Merry Christmas all! And guess what the government has given you for Christmas? That’s right guaranteed death! The senate just passed the health care bill which puts us one step closer to medicine rationing, long wait lines, death councils, and no private care.
I ask that you would keep a prayer in your hearts for those in the government, and pray that they will not ruin America, and just remember to vote well next year. I wish you all a Merry Christmas.
I am sorry that I have been out of touch with the political world for the past month or two but now I am back and barreling straight into some ugly stuff here.
This year, the war on Christmas started early when new proposed social studies statewide curriculum standards, unveiled in August, showed that Diwali would be taught instead of Christmas! The study of Christmas had been dropped from the current sixth grade social studies when students normally discuss major religious holidays, including Easter, Yom Kippur, and Ramadan. We discovered this absurd change and brought it to the attention of our supporters and the media. Following the immediate public outcry, the State Board of Education chairman announced that the Board wanted to make clear that they were not going to remove Christmas. While we won this issue, we have to make sure we keep it that way. There are 15 Board members and they have not yet voted on keeping Christmas in social studies, so there’s still time to make your voice heard! The Board will vote on this issue in January and we will present testimony! – Free Market Foundation
I must say that this astounded me. Why remove Christmas, which is a partial secular holiday, and not Easter which is almost completely religious? Why are people attacking Christianty so much lately? Are there other cases of Christianity being attacked? Most certainly here is another case also from the Free Market Foundation.
This year, Eastfield College in the Dallas County Community College District gave the gift that unfortunately some keep on giving – religious discrimination. A retired Dallas resident was told by Eastfield instructors and officials that he would no longer be allowed to make crosses in his non-credit ceramics class. Joe Mitchell, who has taken the classes for three years, began making ceramic crosses and other religious items to give as gifts to church volunteers and friends, and even donated some to be sold for homeless charities. When instructors told him to stop making crosses, he consulted with Free Market Foundation’s legal arm, which just sent a demand letter to Eastfield’s explaining that such discrimination is unconstitutional. – Free Market Foundation
According to the Rasmussen Report on Wednesday, December 16th 66% of America celebrates Christmas as a religious holiday. If so many people celebrate Christmas than why should people attack it so fiercely?
Recently the term “welfare state” has come up in many debates over health care, cap and trade, and many other bills. Today I found the best definition of what constitutes a law that is a “welfare state law”
“By the term “welfare state law,” we mean one under which government transfers public funds, property or services without receiving a fair consideration in return. Included with this definition are all of those public welfare programs which provide aid to the young, the old, the sick, the disadvantaged, the unemployed, the uneducated, the widows, the orphans, the victims of natural disasters, victims of manmade disasters, etc. … While under some of these programs the government compels the recipient to contribute some of his own money which, in theory, is to be returned to him, he usually receives at least twice as much as he puts in because at least one half of his benefits come from employers or other taxpayers. Also taxpayers pay the cost of administering these programs.” – H. Verlan Anderson
I hope this definition will educate and enlighten us all.
Keep America free from welfare state laws!
I am proud to say that once again we have had a victory. Yesterday in Maine the citizens of Maine repealed Maine’s homosexual marriage laws. We have succeeded once again. Maine is now the 31st state to block homosexual marriage! Maine was one of the strongest supporters of homosexual marriage so this may turn into an even greater victory.
Thank you Maine!! I salute you!
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) announced Monday that he will seek to bring a health-care bill to the Senate floor that includes a government insurance plan, a major reversal from just two weeks ago, when Reid was leaning against the idea. – Washington Post
Reid defended this “new” bill by saying:
“I believe that a public option can achieve the goal of bringing meaningful reform to our broken system. It will protect consumers, keep insurers honest and ensure competition,” Reid said.
My main response to this is; who is to keep the government “honest”? Besides that it is not the purpose of the government to provide health care to its citizens. Though I oppose all forms of government health care the only legal form of government health care is government health care done by the state. The tenth amendment to the constitution states:
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
The power to create government health care was not delegated to the federal government and was not prohibited to the state government. So, that means that it is up to the states and the people what to do about health care. This IS NOT an issue that involves the federal government.
The time has come again for Americans to stand up against government health care once again. We must not let the Senators in Washington believe that we have grown weary of this issue. We must stand up against the tyranny of government health care.
“I do not know whether all Americans have a sincere faith in their religion-for who can search the human heart?–but I am certain that they hold it to be indispensable to the maintenance of republican institutions. This opinion is not peculiar to a class of citizens or to a party, but it belongs to the whole nation and to every rank of society.” (De Tocqueville, Democracy in America, I.2.9)
Is religion necessary for liberty to thrive?
“And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep forever: that considering numbers, nature, and natural means only, a revolution of the wheel of fortune, an exchange of situation, is among possible events: that it may become probable by supernatural interference! The Almighty has no attribute which can take side with us in such a contest.” (Thomas Jefferson, Query XVIII, Notes on the State of Virginia)
So, will America be able to survive if we remove the firm basis of God from our nation? My believe is that it won’t so we need to bring God back into America.
“The White House released a report on Monday saying that President Obama’s economic recovery plans may have created 250,000 education jobs. The administration is pushing back against to critics who say the economic stimulus did no good, and saying it’s on track to reach the goal of saving or creating 3.5 million jobs. How many jobs has the stimulus really saved?” – The Week
Obama may have created a quarter million jobs but how many has he destroyed? The stimulus bill caused inflation and has hurt many people, many companies have still cut jobs and many of his plans will cause more jobs to be lost.
What will happen if we have Cap and Trade and we can no longer have coal plants? We will lose jobs. What will happen if government health care takes over and we have a single payer system? We will lose the jobs of all those who work for insurance companies.
A quarter million jobs isn’t that many and if Obama’s plans succeed we will lose more than that before this is over.
I am sorry to say that I know think the Nobel Peace Prize is worth nothing. I understand that many people love Obama but what has he done for peace? Obama may be considered a great president by many, but what has he done for peace? We still have troops in Iraq, he has insulted England multiple times, and he has definitely not had the American people be peaceful, we have stood up and rallied to defy his agenda many times and once again, what has he done for peace??
“Whenever an office, through increase of fees or otherwise, becomes so profitable, as to occasion many to apply for it, the profits ought to be lessened by the legislature.”
– Ben Franklin
I think that this could be one of the largest problems with Congress… Senators and Representatives get paid too much. The fundamental problem is that Congress can vote to get a higher salary. I do not know what we can do to change this but it is food for thought.
